Michele: Stop being his father.
Mike: [ sighs ] I can't in the continued absence of his actual father.
Michele: Let Axl fail for once. He'll learn from it.
Mike: [ chuckles ] You don't exactly overflow with human kindness, do you?
Michele: I am what my mother made me.
Mike: And that's what you want me to be to Axl?
Michele: No. I don't want you to be his mother either. I am only making the point that by nature and nurture, I am a survivor. And Axl can be too.
Mike: [ pause ] I don't want him to fail.
Michele: You so mollycoddle him.
Mike: What do you want me to do?
Michele: Well, finishing this place would be good. You said it would take a month.
Mike: [ helpless shrug with his hands ] It's a work in progress.
Michele: Progress comes when you're too busy worrying about bloody everyone else, Mike. [ kisses his shoulder and ruffles his hair ]
